Project Island Song - As One
When you think about the behind the scenes crew of a fast-paced news team, you don’t think about people with sight loss. Which made it the perfect place to prove what’s possible when they have the right services behind them.
Project Island Song
As One
While we slowed down during the COVID-19 lockdown, Mother Earth kept moving. Our native wildlife, flora and fauna, replenishing and thriving. Maintaining this is the work of many and Project Island Song, an ecological restoration group in the Bay of Islands, needed to get kiwis thinking about volunteering, donating, or simply thinking more consciously about how they treat their unique environment.
I was asked to collaborate on this project with Up&Up Drone Photography and Film. All footage was shot pre-lockdown. All they needed were the words.
The result is an emotionally-charged film that urges New Zealanders to return from lockdown not just to ‘normal’ but to ‘better’. But you don’t have to live in the Bay of Islands to have skin in the game of keeping NZ environmentally unique. Consider donating or adopting a tree ($10 = 1 tree!) through Project Island Song in an effort to keep Aotearoa’s first inhabitants safe.
