For two years, State undertook one of the largest data audits in insurance history. Through the analyzation of over 4 million data streams of claims information, weather, transport and statistical data, patterns and trends emerged — the same mistakes, made at the same times, on the same days. Mostly by people named John.

This put State in the unique position to show up for their customers before they lodged a claim and actually help them avoid mistakes and stay safer in the first place.  But mistakes don’t happen only to the insured, so State released a nationwide report to alert all New Zealanders of the mistakes they were about to make, right before they made them. Positioning State as the insurance provider to step in the moment before danger strikes, not after.

Through a hyper-targeted campaign, people were warned of NZ’s most dangerous streets while on them, accident-inducing times on the hour, and geo-targeted banners cautioned them of the mistakes that happen most in their exact area. 

 As part of the report, a digital tool enabled people to create a Personalised Mistake Report, which analysed a multitude of variables to forecast exactly how mistake-prone a person is at any moment.  Get yours now.
